Falam township

Falam is a beautiful town which lies on the mountain slope in Chin State. The town was originally founded by the British in 1982, and became an important base for British rule of the northern Chin Hills. Many of the buildings in Falam reflect the British occupation and its former status as the state capital. Visitors can explore its magnificent colonial buildings and a grand Baptist Church which is in the centre of the town. Falam still retains parts of its former glory and has breath-taking views.

The Rih Lake

The Rih lake, a lovely and romantic heart-shaped, lies between the border of Myanmar and India, located in the western part of Falam Township at 853m above sea level. It is one of the most magnificent and beautiful lakes in Myanmar. The lake is one mile in length and half mile in width. It is about 3 miles in diameter and the depth is about 60 feet. It is 63 miles far from Falam and 32 miles from Tedim so visitors can enjoy a car trip to there

International Border Gate

Inida-Myanmar International Border Gate has been opened as an international border Gate at 8.8.2018. It is a main gate for trading of the two countries. Lailun Cave

Lailun Cave is located in the eastern part of Falam town. It is situated in 3500-4800 feet above sea level. It is also known as the birth place of Chin tribes. It takes 20 minutes to reach there by car or motorbike but 1 hour and 20 minutes on foot. There are limestone caves and mountains at Lailun. The highest limestone peak is 280 feet high and the limestone cave able to be measured is 500 feet long. Currently, Lailun is under the project of the Chin Christian Institute of Theology, Falam. CCIT named Lailun as “Integrated Development Centre”. Visitors can observe and study agriculture and livestock breeding, and environmental conservation processes. It can be said that they can study the historical land of Chin State.

Mt. Buan Nel, also called Mt. Len Nupa

Mt. Buan Nel @ Mt. Len Nupa is being embraced with a religious and natural scenery is situated in Chin State. It is at the boundary of Falam Township and Tedim Township. It is situated 8226 ft above sea level. At Mt. Buan Nel @ Len Nupa, there are two mountains: Male Mountain and Female Mountain. Between the two mountains, a small stream flows swiftly. Breath taking view from the top of the mountain attracts more visitors there. Along the road to the mountain, different birds entertain the visitors with their sweet voices. All the mountains are covered with colorful and seasonal flowers in attractive ways. The grass field is surrounded by 10 small mountains in circle shape and a small stream flows through in the middle of the field. There once was a myth that Mt. Buan Nel was a grazing area of animals which was protected by the lord lady Chong Tin Ler. Along the valley, there are abundant of rhododendrons and unique wild flowers.

Taisun Village

Taisun village is 3 miles away from Falam Township, Chin State.  The village was founded in the 15th Century. The village is well-known as it is the birthplace of Chin civilization and military leader and chief, Con Bik @ Bo Son Pat, who fought against the invasion of the British. The Taisum Community Based Tourism was initiated with the aim to promote the tourism and conservation while bringing the benefits of tourism for the development of Taisun village. Activities that visitor mostly enjoy at Taisun CBT include trekking, exploring the village, Chin traditional weaving, observing Wine making process, appreciating the natural scenic beauty of the village, visiting the museum, visiting the grave and traditional memorial stone of the late hero Con Bik. This CBT initiative is implemented by the UKAID with the Backyard Friendly Tour operator.

Zahau & Hualngo Chief ThangTinLain's Residence

On the way to Rih, Lake Chief Thang Tin Lian’s Residence is situated in Tlau Hmun Village, Falam Township. Chief Thang Tin Lian was born in 1895 and he passed away in May 1947. Chief Thang Tin Lian is the leader of 82 villages. He has four wives and 25 children. His residence was built with 26 feet wide, 66 feet long, and his veranda was 6 feet wide on west side and the ground floor divided with customary house. Thang Tin Lian Residence comprised two bed rooms, Ancestor storage room on the upper floor, and it is divided with customary house inner and outer on the ground floor. His Residence was made of Hual wood. Hual wood is mainly used when chin people built their house traditionally. You can see the chief’s tomb in front of his yard. Furthermore, you can see nature of Salt Lake. In the past, that salt lake is the main ingredient of their daily food for the villager and the village near. It takes 1 hour on foot and 15 minutes by car from Thang Tin Lian Residence. In Tlau Hmun Village, you can visit Chief Thang Tin Lian Residence, see the nature of salt lake, enjoy the village life style, and feel nature of cool weather.

Lente Pottery

One of the most well-known as pottery in Chin State is Lente Pottery named for the Lente village which is located in Falam Township. The clay used for the pottery is called Kharbung clay. The clay can be got from digging five feet into the ground. The clay is mixed with soft rock got from 8 feet of the ground in 2:1 and pounded them together. The clay pot was baked after being moulded.  It takes 4 days from beginning to finishing the pot step by step. The village is 9 miles from Falam town.
