Tedim township

Tedim township is located in the northern part of Chin State. The four major blocks in Tedim are sakollam, Myoma, Lawibual and Leium. Tedim is well-known for its fabulous destinations such as Lennupa valley, a historic Mt. Kennedy, historical Siallum Fort. Then, many caves and peaks in the area attract visitors in unique ways. Significantly, Tedim is a popular mountain climbing site for visitors.

Mt. Buan Nel, also called Mt. Len Nupa

Mt. Buan Nel @ Mt. Len Nupa is being embraced with a religious and natural scenery is situated in Chin State. It is at the boundary of Falam Township and Tedim Township. It is situated 8226 ft above sea level. At Mt. Buan Nel @ Len Nupa, there are two mountains: Male Mountain and Female Mountain. Between the two mountains, a small stream flows swiftly. Breath taking view from the top of the mountain attracts more visitors there. Along the road to the mountain, different birds entertain the visitors with their sweet voices. All the mountains are covered with colorful and seasonal flowers in attractive ways. The grass field is surrounded by 10 small mountains in circle shape and a small stream flows through in the middle of the field. There once was a myth that Mt. Buan Nel was a grazing area of animals which was protected by the lord lady Chong Tin Ler. Along the valley, there are abundant of rhododendrons and unique wild flowers.

Historical Siallum Fort

The Siallum Fort is located near Vaklak village in Tedim Township. It is about 4 furlongs far from the main road of Vaklak-Htoke Laing with the total area of (2.755) Acres. It is a historic ground during the invasion of Chin Hill by the British force in 1888. The battleground has been marked in memory of those patriotic; brave Chin warriors by Chin State Government and Union Government. The Siallum fort was built with (3) big holes, small holes and shelf for security checks. There are ravines, stream and escarpment at the lower part of the fort. On the other side of the stream, foxholes and communication foxholes were connected systematically. In order not to be seen easily by the enemy, all the foxholes were sheltered with big stones, big wood, trees, branches, and soil in layers on them.

Mt. Kennedy

Mt. Kennedy stands as the second highest mountain in Chin State. It is a 2,703 meter peak that dominates the main road of Kalay-Tedim road, particularly well-known for its healthy grassland mountain. Due to its strategic location, it was the war based area of a battle where Subedar Ram Sarup Singh undertook actions that led to the awarding of the Victoria Cross during World War II. It takes 4 hours drive from Kalaymyo, Sagaing Division to the mountain by car.

Khaikam Elephant Camp

Khaikam Elephant Camp is located near the main road of Kalay-Khaikam-Tedim in Chin State. It is 15 miles far from Kalay Township and 6 miles from Khai Kam Town. The guests can receive amazing services such as bathing the elephants, observing the nature of the elephants, riding and feeding the elephants, studying the saddle installation on the elephant, taking photos and videos with the elephants, buying souvenirs, exploring traditional foods in the camp.

Pim Pih Village

Pim Pih village is located in Tedim Township, Chin State. It is about 15 miles in the north from Khai Kam town, and situated in 3554ft above sea level. The village is famous for the hospitality of the villagers, culture and customs, traditional songs and the scenic beauty of the village. It can be reached from Kalay (Sagaing Division) Pim Pih road. Due to its location at the base of Mount Kennedy, the second highest peak in Chin State, trekking and mountaineering become a must for nature lovers. Then, visitors can observe memorial stone and stone caves plus the historical Siallum fort while climbing down from Mt. Kennedy. Community Based on Tourism is being implemented and more assistance for the village is still needed.

Siang Sawn village

Siang Sawn village, located in the east of Tedim Township in Falam district of Northern Chin State, is a historical village enriched with traditions and culture. It is situated in 5255ft above sea level so the village has a peaceful and tranquil scene surrounded by pine trees under a cool climate. There are about 90 households with more than 300population in the village. The major livelihoods are agriculture, livestock breeding, and weaving. The meaning of the name “Siang Sawn” is “The Cleanest” so all villagers are actively taking part to make the village cleaner than others. The statues of Chin man and woman, Chin traditional memorial stones, the model monument of the village can grasp the heart of the visitors. Furthermore, visitors are clearly explained about the worship, Chin houses with stone roof, elephant tusk and bones, mollusk and oyster in the village.

Suang Suang Cliff

Suang Suang cliff is situated in the northeast of the meeting point of Dawn Lui, Bel Tang Lui and Zalui streams. “Suang” means rock and another “Suang” means layers of rocks so the meaning of “Suang Suang” is layers of rocks cliff. The foot of the cliff is approximately 4 acres wide, the height of the cliff is nearly 800 feet, and the top of the cliff is spacious enough for 20 people to sit so it is believed that the top of the cliff will be 20 square feet. The most significant thing of the cliff is that there is a rock drum on it. If visitors hit the rock drum, it sounds like the royal drum.

Sai Zang Village Chieftain House

Sai Zang village was  established  by  Pu Mang Sum in 1506  and only the Sai Zang lives in the village. Sai Zang village is situated in the southern a part of Tedim town, 7 miles far from the town. It is the most ancient village in Tedim Township. The Sai Zang chieftain house is 72ft in length and 30ft in width, built of zinc rooftop, wood with wooden plank in it. Outside the house, there is a door which is 42ft in length and 26ft in width. The house has lasted for nearly a century so it is famous as a long-lasting historic building. The house is the resident of Pu Thawng Za Khup, a representative of Tedim Township who signed an agreement at the historic Panlong conference.
